What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2019

Multiple section views can be quickly created along a drawing view. Select Insert > Drawing View > Removed Section to create “slices” along a drawing view.

The section views are placed right next the parent view and there can be multiple cross sections around the parent, very similar to the placement of a projected view.

There are two alignment types: Automatic and Manual.

Automatic shows a preview of the cutting line before the slice is created; this line can be re-orientated with your mouse.

Manual alignment type has you still select the two edges, but then point appears on each of the two selected edges. The two large dots control the orientation of the cutting line angle. It is little more sensitive using the points compared to the “Automatic” option to get the desired orientation, but it gives more control of the cutting section.

Both line placement options can edit the original cutting line used to create the slice, just like a normal section view, using the “Edit Cutting Line” option. Just right mouse button over "Removed Section View" in the graphics area or in the Feature Manager Design Tree to get to that option.

This new type of section view can take up less space on a drawing than a regular section view. It is good for showing multiple cross sections of loft and boundary types of geometry.
